A historic agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was signed on Sept. 13, 1993, in Washington, D.C. The two bitter enemies agreed to work to end their conflicts. Following the signing, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, <I>left,</I> and PLO leader Yasir Arafat, <I>right,</I> shook hands as United States President Bill Clinton looked on.
